Duraboss: The No Compromise Rotary Die

In early 2007 when I started my career in narrow web printing, I quickly discovered a frustrating problem with existing emboss tooling. The economically priced photopolymer plates used to create textured effects in paper substrates were prone to failure as they relied on tedious mounting techniques for proper alignment, and temperature sensitive double-sided tape to hold them in place. While more reliable tooling had existed for some time in the form of engraved brass or steel cylinders, it was very expensive and still quite delicate and vulnerable to damage.

After years of struggling with existing offerings and knowing there must be a better way, Duraboss was born.

Designed to fill the massive void in existing rotary embossing products for narrow web printing, Duraboss bridges the gap between affordable but unreliable photopolymer plates and exorbitantly priced and delicate engraved brass cylinders. 

How it works

Relying on steel sub-assemblies to maintain rigidity, our system employs fully CNC engraved removable copolymer sleeves to provide the sculpted and multilevel embossing effect you’re used to getting from brass or steel at a price that you and your customers will love. 

Our patent-pending sleeve design is proven in 7” to 20” narrow-web rotary press formats, and with TLMI and FTA award winning results our system will not only increase your capabilities and boost your industry profile, but with no adhesive mounting tape to break down it will increase your productivity as well.
